That’s approximately $355,000 in additional costs for every U.S. household.

“Medicare for All alone accounts for $47.4 trillion. The smaller items look cheap on the budget, until you see what they do to the economy,” the webpage states.

The webpage breaks down its analysis of the economic impacts of the DSA’s other policy commitments. It projects $3.6 trillion in deficits if the nation adopted the political organization’s proposal to erase student debt and provide free college to all U.S. students, $920 billion for its proposal for a 32-hour work week, $16 billion for universal rent control, $370 billion for the Green New Deal, and $527 billion for open borders and amnesty. The White House estimates the DSA’s proposed wealth tax will raise $3.94 trillion.

The White House has launched a new webpage warning Americans of the “real cost of Socialism.” Screenshot: The White House

The White House says these impacts to the federal budget would result in an estimated $57 trillion in new taxes for Americans.

“The wealth tax raises $3.9 trillion and costs the economy $8.6 trillion. Rent control destroys $546 billion in economic value,” the website says. “About $4.9 trillion a year would have to be financed either by borrowing or by tax increases. CEA estimated the effects of both paths. Both are dramatically costly for Americans’ pocketbooks.”

The webpage also features a tool for users to gauge the impact of Socialist policies to their individual bottom lines.

The White House has launched a new webpage warning Americans of the “real cost of Socialism.” Screenshot: The White House

When it comes to the per capita income of $57,897 in Massachusetts, according to data from the latest U.S. census, the White House estimates DSA policies would decrease a worker’s take-home pay by $16,472 per year, or $1,373 per month, due to new taxes to fund the agenda.

The census lists the median household income in Massachusetts at $103,960, which the White House estimates would be cut to just $74,764 in total take-home pay under DSA policies.

Massachusetts lawmakers to take up federal census changes

Concerns over recently proposed federal changes to the upcoming 2030 U.S. census will be heard on Beacon Hill this month as national political differences surrounding illegal immigration spill into the decennial tally of the country’s population.

The Senate Committee on the Census will be taking testimony in a hearing scheduled for October 14, specifically focusing on changes to residency criteria excluding most non-citizens from the count, how seasonal residents will be counted, and more.

“The proposed changes would eliminate questions related to race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation, exclude most non-citizens from apportionment counts, and alter how seasonal residents of states and those living in group quarters (e.g., dorm buildings, nursing homes) are counted,” a description of the upcoming hearing on the Legislature’s website says.

The hearing is the first of a two-part series covering the potential ramifications of what the committee calls “significant changes” proposed for the census.

“It will include testimony and presentations from experts and public officials about how the proposed changes to census residency criteria could impact Massachusetts, were they to be in effect in 2030. Particular focus will be given to the proposals regarding group quarters and seasonal residents and the exclusion of most non-citizens from the census count,” it says.

Proposed changes related to excluding most non-citizens from the count is expected to be a key talking point among the committee, which includes five Democrats and just one Republican in state Sen.
