NEW YORK (PIX11) – Two men were attacked with a hammer Saturday night in Brooklyn, according to police.<\/p>\n
The two 36-year-old men were struck in the head around 9:03 p.m. near 65th Street and 14th Avenue in Dyker Heights, police said. The attack happened in the parking lot outside a Burger King, according to the restaurant.<\/p>\n
Both men were taken to Lutheran Hospital and are in stable condition, according to police.<\/p>\n
Police said the suspects fled the scene on 14th Avenue. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
Investigators were seen canvassing the parking lot Saturday night, taking photos and collecting evidence as they worked to determine what led up to the attack.<\/p>\n
A Burger King spokesperson told PIX11 the franchisee that owns and operates the restaurant was “horrified” to learn about the incident. The franchisee confirmed the people involved were not team members or guests and is cooperating with local law enforcement, according to the statement.<\/p>\n
Resident Mike Forbes, who has lived down the street for 14 years, said he was not surprised by the violence and believes more needs to be done to address safety concerns in the area.<\/p>\n
“Maybe in the city overall, but in this neighborhood, it’s the same routine,” Forbes said.<\/p>\n
The attack comes after another violent incident at a Brooklyn restaurant in August. Police said 44-year-old MD Yousuf was shot in the head and killed inside American Best Wings & Pizza in Brownsville. Another man was shot in the leg.<\/p>\n
