\n\tOne of the more distinctive apartment houses on Park Avenue<\/a>, 660 Park Avenue was designed by York & Sawyer in 1927 in the Italian Renaissance style. Its restrained limestone facade has a three-story rusticated base, quoined corners, and an iron marquee marking the entrance. The 13-story cooperative building contains just 12 large apartments, and its past and present residents include Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer and Annette de la Renta, along with the late Oscar de la Renta, newspaper publisher William T. Dewart, and Chase National Bank chairman Albert H. Wiggin.<\/p>\n

\n\tSales in the building are rare. The most recent trade came in 2020, when a full-floor apartment sold for $12 million to hedge fund manager Soly Vahabzadeh. Now another full-floor residence, on the seventh floor, has come to market for $14 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tExtending 90 feet along Park Avenue, the residence has the generous proportions of a private home, with 10-foot ceilings, expansive windows, and a 25-foot entrance gallery leading from the private elevator landing into the main entertaining spaces. The grand living room has gilt-trimmed moldings, scalloped niches, and a central fireplace, while the library offers another wood-burning fireplace. The more-than-450-square-foot corner dining room connects through a pantry to the modernized kitchen, which has six windows, a center island, and a built-in dining banquette.<\/p>\n

\n\tThree bedrooms are privately situated off an L-shaped corridor, including two guest rooms with built-in desks and private baths. Originally configured as two bedrooms, the nearly 30-foot-long primary suite has two walk-in closets and a spacious marble-clad bathroom with built-in burled-wood cabinetry. \n\tThe building offers white-glove services, including doormen, porters, and a resident manager. Monthly maintenance is $14,232. Buyers must be approved by the board and financing is not permitted.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlong with its full-floor apartments, 660 Park Avenue is home to a 27-room maisonette triplex with its own entrance and address at 666 Park Avenue. The residence was commissioned in the 1920s by Virginia \u201cBirdie\u201d Graham Fair Vanderbilt, the estranged wife of William K. Vanderbilt II, but she never moved in, selling it shortly after the building was completed. The triplex later became the longtime home of the late pharmaceutical executive Arthur Sackler and his wife, Jillian, who died in 2025. Its future remains unclear<\/a>, but the triplex\u2014and, on a smaller scale, the full-floor apartments like the one now for sale\u2014reflect how New York\u2019s most exclusive apartment houses of the era were designed to offer the scale and grandeur of a private home, an appealing proposition for wealthy New Yorkers trading townhouses and country estates for apartment living.<\/p>\n
