A trolling Brooklyn pol has invited Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu to the city Jan. 1 \u2014 the day of the swearing-in of Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who has vowed to try to arrest Bibi <\/a>when he visits next.<\/p>\n

City Councilwoman and fierce Zionist Inna Vernikov said she issued a formal invitation to the prime minister<\/a> to come to the Big Apple in January to \u201creaffirm the deep and enduring bond\u201d between the city, US and the Jewish state.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the vile rhetoric of unashamed Marxist radicals like Mayor-elect Mamdani, your visit would serve as a powerful reminder that this city stands with Israel, the Jewish people, and with the principles that unite our two great nations,\u201d she wrote to Netanyahu.<\/p>\n

Mamdani has previously said he would have Netanyahu arrested in New York if elected mayor. James Keivom<\/p>\n

Mamdani, a socialist Muslim immigrant, vowed during his campaign to use the NYPD to arrest Netanyahu if he sets foot in the city again, citing the International Criminal Court\u2019s 2024 arrest warrant for the leader\u2019s alleged war crimes in Gaza, which the US doesn\u2019t recognize.<\/p>\n

The Republican firebrand Vernikov chided the \u201cirresponsible and frankly absurd statements\u201d made by Mamdani, who has dogged relentless accusations of antisemitism. <\/p>\n

She wrote to Netanyahu, \u201cWhether individuals agree or disagree with your policies, you are the duly elected Prime Minister of the State of Israel: a democratic nation that stands as a beacon of hope, freedom, western values, resilience, and strength in a region surrounded by tyranny and terror.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

In late 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants to Netanhayu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant<\/a>, alleging that there were \u201creasonable grounds\u201d to believe the two men \u201cintentionally and knowingly deprived the civilian population in Gaza of objects indispensable to their survival.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vernikov wrote to Netanyahu that his visit would \u201creaffirm the deep and enduring bond\u201d between Israel and New York City. Stephen Yang<\/p>\n

But neither the US nor Israel recognize the ICC<\/a>, having opted not to ratify the 1998 Rome Statute that created the tribunal.<\/p>\n

Mamdani still has doubled down on his vow in December<\/a> 2024 to arrest the Israeli PM in recent interviews.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is something that I intend to fulfill,\u201d Mamdani told the New York Times in September. \u201cThis is a moment where we cannot look to the federal government for leadership. This is a moment when cities and states will have to demonstrate what it actually looks like to stand up for our own values, our own people.\u201d<\/p>\n

He reiterated his controversial pledge in October, telling the outlet<\/a>, \u201cIt is important that New York City is in compliance with international criminal law.\u201d<\/p>\n

But former Democratic state assemblyman Dov Hikind told The Post on Tuesday that Mamdani \u201cis going to find out that he\u2019s not the king.<\/p>\n

\u201cBibi will get the biggest positive reception that he\u2019s ever gotten in New York \u2013 people who have never come out\u201d \u2014 the next time he visits, Hikind said.<\/p>\n
