Dutchess County, NY (WRGB) \u2014 A monthslong investigation into suspected drug sales near the New York-Connecticut state line ended with a SWAT-assisted search and the arrest of a 40-year-old man accused of selling fentanyl and crack cocaine in the Town of Northeast.<\/p>\n
The Dutchess County District Attorney\u2019s Office Drug Task Force said it arrested 40-year-old Schuyler Houis after authorities were alerted to significant drug activity consistent with the sale of narcotics at a residence in the Town of Northeast near the Connecticut border.<\/p>\n
Authorities say they identified the residence and the dealer, then began purchasing fentanyl and crack cocaine from Houis on multiple occasions, authorities said. Investigators determined the narcotics were being brought from Waterbury, Connecticut, into New York by Houis and sold to residents, according to the Drug Task Force.<\/p>\n
That investigation led to a search warrant for Houis and his residence. On 10\/02\/2026, members of the Drug Task Force, assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff\u2019s Office Emergency Services Unit (SWAT) and the Poughkeepsie Joint SWAT team, executed the warrant. Authorities said the search resulted in the seizure of narcotics and other evidence related to the sale of narcotics.<\/p>\n
Houis was arrested at the scene and charged with one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree.<\/p>\n
He was later arraigned in the Town of Northeast court and released, with a future court appearance required under New York state law. Authorities said numerous other charges are pending related to the sale of narcotics.<\/p>\n

No part of Dutchess County is immune from the devastating impact of illegal drugs. Whether narcotics are being sold in one of our cities, our suburban communities, or in a rural town near the state line, our Drug Task Force will follow the evidence and aggressively pursue those responsible. Fentanyl and crack cocaine destroy lives, fuel addiction, and threaten the safety of our communities. This investigation demonstrates that geography will not provide protection to those who bring dangerous drugs into Dutchess County for sale.
