A Big Apple teacher under investigation for praising Hamas\u2019 Oct. 7 mastermind<\/a> cowardly covered his face when he returned to his Brooklyn school Monday \u2013 as fuming parents called for him to be fired.<\/p>\n

Damien Neva was back at PS 77 in Park Slope after his sick comments praising Yahya Al-Sinwar<\/a>, the bloodthirsty former leader of the terrorist group in Gaza, were brought to light in a new lawsuit.<\/p>\n

\u201cLong live Yahya Al-Sinwar,\u201d Neva boasted in a group chat with other terrorist sycophants, according to the suit.<\/p>\n

Parents at the school told The Post that the 48-year-old failed fashion photographer-turned-teacher doesn\u2019t belong in the classroom if he holds such sick views \u2013 and the city\u2019s education officials should do something about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s disgusting,\u201d one 5th-grade dad said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he\u2019s still teaching here, it\u2019s disgusting, both on him and on the school that\u2019s holding on to him. No one who praises terrorists deserves to be a teacher,\u201d the furious father raged.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you praise a guy like [Sinwar], that means that some part of you believes that murdering innocent people is morally justifiable.\u201d<\/p>\n

A grandmother at the school said that the Hamas-loving teacher is not someone she wants near her grandchildren.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe the Palestinian people deserve statehood, but Sinwar was a terrorist,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe killed for the sake of killing, and to speak of him like he did something good \u2013 that\u2019s not okay, and [Neva] is not someone I want near my grandchildren.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should fire him. I\u2019m surprised they haven\u2019t fired him already.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neva made headlines after his antisemitic rants were made public in a lawsuit filed by the Park Slope Food Co<\/a>op, where the controversial teacher allegedly led efforts to boycott Israeli goods.<\/a><\/p>\n

He posted his praise for Sinwar during a group chat in November 2024, the suit said.<\/p>\n

State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz called it all \u201cappalling.<\/p>\n

The Post\u2019s front page on Monday took aim at Neva\u2019s posts praising Hamas.<\/p>\n

\u201cHamas is a terrorist organization that has killed countless people, including Americans,\u201d Dinowitz said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think someone like that should be teaching our kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

The city Department of Education did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n

Karen Feldman, a Big Apple teacher and founder of The NYC Public School Alliance, said that Neva is not an \u201cisolated case\u201d \u2013 and the DOE needs to take action to send a message.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not about one offensive post or one teacher\u2019s political views. It is about who NYCPS [New York City Public Schools] is allowing to stand in front of our children. This teacher publicly praised Yahya al-Sinwar, the Hamas leader and murder mastermind responsible for the October 7 massacre,\u201d Feldman told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he is not an isolated case,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not about policing political beliefs. It is about professional judgment, student safety and the basic responsibility of a school system to know who it is putting in front of children.
