PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014 When the division series makes its way to The Bronx, Max Fried will get the ball first for the Yankees.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The club plans to start Fried for Wednesday\u2019s Game 3 followed by Carlos Rod\u00f3n for Thursday\u2019s Game 4, if the Yankees can get it there, manager Aaron Boone said Monday before <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/05\/sports\/yankees-errors-push-season-to-brink-with-alds-game-2-loss-to-rays\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a slop-filled 5-2 loss to the Rays <\/a>at Tropicana Field.<\/p>\n<p>Fried would pitch on six days of rest. Obviously, it\u2019s always subject to change based on how the series unfolds. But that\u2019s how we\u2019re planning on going right now.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rod\u00f3n had been <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/01\/sports\/yankees-rotation-is-stacked-and-might-be-the-best-of-playoff-teams\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">available out of the bullpen<\/a> for the wild-card series, though the Yankees did not need him, before being in consideration to start Game 1 of the ALDS before Boone landed on Gerrit Cole.
