The woman was pronounced dead at the emergency room while the baby remains in critical condition.

Sources say the woman fell with the baby in her arms, partially cushioning the infant’s fall.

According to a report from ABC7, witnesses said the pair were thrown from the building. However, police say they are still investigating and will determine if she fell, jumped, or was pushed.

Police sources did confirm that they are looking to speak with a man, but his exact connection to the case is not yet clear. The man is believed to be in his 30s with a light complexion and a ponytail; he was last seen wearing a gray sweater.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA).
