HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – Postseason baseball returned to the Bronx Wednesday night, with the New York Yankees facing elimination against the Tampa Bay Rays. Connecticut fans traveled to Union Station to catch trains to the game, hoping to see the team extend its season.<\/p>\n
Yankees trail best-of-5 series 2-0<\/p>\n
The Yankees dropped the first two games of the best-of-5 series to the Rays. The Rays won Game 1 by a score of 1-0 and Game 2 by a score of 5-2.<\/p>\n
Down 2-0 in the series, the Yankees needed to win three straight games against the Rays to advance. One fan said the rallying cry among fans was \u201clet\u2019s go 3 in a row.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dennis Williams, a Yankees fan, said he believed the team would win and suggested a lineup change from manager Aaron Boone.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think they\u2019re going to win tonight, I think Boone is going to switch the lineup, instead of doing the same thing, its like banging your head against the wall and not doing anything. Make changes, hopefully they\u2019ll win tonight and set some momentum for the rest of the series,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n
Metro-North adds extra trains<\/p>\n
Metro-North added extra trains to take fans to the Bronx, including the Yankee Clipper, which runs directly to the stadium.<\/p>\n
Williams said there is something unique about Yankee Stadium during October baseball.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s nothing like it, the crowd is just magnificent, everything going on before the game. The streets, the bars, it\u2019s a wild party, a big celebration,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n
Mike Jones, a fan from California, was preparing to attend his first game in the Bronx.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m thinking the Yankees got a good chance. Got to have some strong pitching tonight and they should have the right guy on the mound,\u201d Jones said.<\/p>\n
First pitch set for Wednesday night<\/p>\n
First pitch for Game 3 was set for a little after 8 p.m. Wednesday. If the Yankees win Game 3, Game 4 will be played Thursday, also at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n
