WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani <\/a>on Tuesday got backlash for his post about the three-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7,\u201d he wrote in a lengthy post on X. \u201cOn that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to criticize actions of the Israeli government as the war continues in Gaza<\/a>, talking about the 74,000 Palestinians that have been killed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suffering did not begin nor end that day,\u201d the post continued. \u201cIt instead continued through the Israeli government\u2019s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians\u2014including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also criticized the government funding the war with U.S. tax dollars.<\/p>\n

Many people on X slammed Mamdani\u2019s statement, with many saying there is no genocide in Gaza.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no genocide, other than the one you support that Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran\u2019s terror brigades attempt on their neighbor regularly, you terror clown,\u201d conservative radio host Dana Loesch said in response to his post.<\/p>\n

Another person responded, \u201cThere\u2019s no f*cking genocide. You\u2019re a disgrace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former South Carolina GOP Gov. Nikki Haley called his post antisemitic.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is antisemitism, no matter how you try to put a bow on it,\u201d she wrote. \u201cIsraelis have every right to defend themselves.
