{"id":367451,"date":"2026-10-08T01:56:47","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T01:56:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/367451\/"},"modified":"2026-10-08T01:56:47","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T01:56:47","slug":"news-12-brooklyn-brooklyn-community-calls-for-permanent-oct-7-memorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/367451\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Brooklyn | Brooklyn Community Calls For Permanent Oct 7 Memorial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Three years after the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel, a Brooklyn community is vowing not to forget.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Elected officials and Jewish community leaders in Gravesend are calling for a permanent Oct. 7 memorial at Mickey Kairay Garden.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">More than 1,000 people, including American citizens, were killed in the attacks, and more than 200 others were taken hostage by Hamas.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Jewish Community Relations Council of New York CEO Mark Treyger says the memorial will honor those who were killed and ensure their stories are never forgotten.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cOct. 7 was the most brutal terror attack against Jews since the Holocaust,\u201d Treyger said. \u201cWe remember. We built, we tried to heal, bring folks together. The haters love to destroy a race and divide.
