On October 3, 2026, at approximately 7:03 p.m., State Police Monroe responded to a three-vehicle crash on State Route 17 in the Town of Blooming Grove.<\/p>\n
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Route 17 in the same lane and direction as a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder and a 2015 GMC Sierra. The Nissan and GMC slowed and came to a stop due to traffic conditions. The Chevrolet failed to stop and struck the rear of the Nissan, causing the Nissan to subsequently strike the rear of the GMC.<\/p>\n
The sole occupant of the Chevrolet, Sean M. Nelson, age 45, of Millrift, Pennsylvania, was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, where he was pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n
The operator and passenger of the Nissan were also transported to Garnet Health Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.<\/p>\n
The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
