Brian May<\/a> is trying to calm speculation about Queen<\/a>\u2019s future after it was widely reported that the band would never tour again. Those reports \u2013 including Guitar Player\u2019s own<\/a> \u2013 were based on comments he made in a recent interview with the Sunday Times<\/a>, in which he explained why he\u2019d rather not hit the road ever again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made a decision 18 months ago that I didn\u2019t want to tour again,\u201d May said in the interview. \u201cA close family friend died when we were in the States, so I said to my tour manager, \u2018I\u2019ll just nip home for a few days and come back.\u2019 She looked me in the eyes and said, \u2018You know you can\u2019t do that.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI love to play, I love to travel, but the trade-off is sacrificing your freedom. I have a wife, grandchildren and a lot of astrophysics I want to do, so I\u2019m thinking maybe 50 years is enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outlets \u2014 including the original Times piece \u2014 interpreted his comments to mean that Queen wouldn\u2019t return to the road.<\/p>\n

But in a new Instagram post, citing Rolling Stone<\/a>\u2019s version of the story, May says that\u2019s not the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a misinterpretation of what I actually said,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI have actually never said Queen won\u2019t ever tour again. I could never say never.<\/p>\n

\u201cI simply made a personal decision last year to take a break from touring. I\u2019ve been making lots of music, and Roger and I are constantly working together on Queen projects behind the scenes. I don’t know what the future holds. I’m ever open to new adventures!\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019d said in the Times interview that those adventures might include a show based on his band\u2019s music, although he had reservations about making it: \u201cLast year I went to the Sphere, my juices started flowing and I sketched out a whole Queen show.<\/p>\n
