If you’ve ever read up on Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s LA home, you may know it’s usually a study in restraint. White walls, sheer curtains, and curated furniture give their interiors a pared-back quality. Then Christmas arrives, and the couple appears to throw the rulebook away.

Their former Christmas tree idea is anything but neutral. Set against the pale backdrop of their living room, it is lit in saturated shades of purple, magenta, green, and cyan, with the colors running through the branches. According to Brooklyn, he uses these Twinkly Strings (available at Amazon), which are app-controlled and versatile enough to use outside, too.

Wooden reindeer, glowing snowmen and star-shaped decorations add another layer, giving the tree a nostalgic, almost storybook feel.

For eleven months of the year, their home leans so heavily on simplicity. However, that contrast is what makes it so powerful. Their Christmas decor gives the otherwise restrained space something unexpected to celebrate, while the familiar motifs keep the display from feeling overly polished.

As a celebrity style editor, I believe there’s something refreshing about seeing a minimalist living room treated this way at Christmas. The assumption is often that a pared-back home needs equally streamlined seasonal decorations, often in one color palette. Brooklyn and Nicola’s tree makes a convincing case for doing the opposite.

That shift is already being seen in Christmas decorating more broadly. After years of neutral schemes dominating interiors, designers and homeowners are looking towards richer colors, more nostalgic decorations and fantasy-inspired displays for the festive season.

David Sumner, a holiday decor expert at Christmas Tree World, says this will be a defining look for 2026. ‘Magical Christmas trees are set to be everywhere in 2026,’ he says. ‘Think enchanted forests, hidden kingdoms, celestial skies, and a touch of fae magic.’

David points to emerald green, sapphire blue, deep plum and antique gold, alongside velvet ribbons, moons, stars, woodland creatures and lantern-style lights.

Brooklyn and Nicola’s tree sits comfortably within that mood, particularly in its mix of woodland figures, glowing lights and celestial details.

More than anything, it shows that a minimalist room doesn’t have to continue such an aesthetic at Christmas. In fact, giving a neutral interior one deliberately playful focal point can make the room feel more personal. For Brooklyn and Nicola, the most interesting part of their Christmas decorating may be that, for once, they haven’t tried to keep things so curated.
