A 31-year-old man has been arrested following a manhunt for the person responsible for pushing a mother to her death from a 15th-floor balcony in the Bronx<\/a> as she was holding her 8-month-old daughter.<\/p>\n

The NYPD tracked down Angel Carrasco late Wednesday night, hours after identifying him as the prime suspect in Nathaly Ramierz’s death. Investigators said the 23-year-old mother was holding her daughter when she was shoved from the balcony on Olinville Avenue in Allerton early Tuesday. Both plunged to the ground.<\/p>\n

Ramirez was pronounced dead at a hospital. The baby girl was taken there as well and was still in critical condition as of Wednesday. Authorities believe her mother’s body may have cushioned her fall.<\/p>\n

Officials said Carrasco was hiding out at a friend’s house when police caught up to the suspect. He faces charges of murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, attempted manslaughter and assault. <\/p>\n

Police were reviewing surveillance video as part of their investigation. The video shows a man walking away in a hooded sweatshirt as police responded to the scene, police sources said.<\/p>\n

Sources said there was a history of domestic violence at Ramirez’s address, and police were looking to question her ex-boyfriend after the deadly incident.<\/p>\n

A witness who lives in the Allerville Arms apartment building said she heard yelling in the middle of the night before screams led people to find Ramirez’s body outside. A neighbor told NBC New York she heard the young woman pleading with someone before she and her baby plunged from the balcony.<\/p>\n

“I heard her yelling and screaming, \u2018Please don\u2019t do this. My baby. You know my baby is scared. Look at her face,'” the neighbor said. “Next thing you know, I hear her scream, and I see something hit the ground.”<\/p>\n

A high school classmate from the Bronx Leadership Academy who stopped by the growing memorial said he’d remember the young mother as a kind person. He said she <\/p>\n

“She was always cool with everybody. She always talked to everybody,” he said.
