Demonstrators opposing Israel hurled insults at New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, dubbing the politician a “traitor,” claiming he engaged in “genocide” and demanding he “cannot weaponize being brown anymore.”<\/p>\n

Relocating from City Hall to a Union Square commemoration of the Oct. 7 Hamas massacre, roughly 100 individuals disrupted an event meant to mourn both Palestinian and Israeli casualties. Stationed outside the Israelis for Peace gathering, the mob banged drums to muffle speakers, Fox News noted.<\/p>\n

Holding a candle, Mamdani faced individuals screaming about his supposed complicity in “selling all your people out.” Surrounding activists chanted, “Zohran, what do you say? How many kids did you kill today?” and “700,000 dead. Mamdani, your hands are red!”<\/p>\n

The onslaught continued with shouts of, “Traitor, traitor, come on out! You sold all your people out!” alongside, “Zohran, you can’t hide. We charge you with genocide!” They added, “We don’t care about where you’re from. You cannot talk about being Muslim anymore. You cannot weaponize being brown anymore. Identity politics can only get you so far,”<\/p>\n

A self-identified former aide insisted Mamdani “was never working for the people.” Additionally, the crowd protested West Bank property sales, labeling the territory “stolen” and chanting, “Mayor Mamdani, take a stand. Stop the sale of stolen land,”<\/p>\n

Participants also demanded the dissolution of the mayoral-appointed City University of New York board over its refusal to divest from Israeli assets.\u00a0Condemning Hamas’ assault as a “horrific war crime” on Wednesday, the mayor simultaneously accused Israel of atrocities<\/a>. “The suffering did not begin nor end that day,” he penned, adding, “It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians \u2013 including more than 21,000 children.”<\/p>\n
