Days after the Queen singer <a href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/one-of-the-greatest-rock-bands-of-all-time-may-be-done-touring-maybe-50-years-is-enough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">made headlines<\/a> for suggesting his time on the road had ended, he took to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DeKI4mYsxQ4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Instagram<\/a> to insist that people had \u201cmisinterpreted\u201d his comments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have actually never said Queen won\u2019t ever tour again. I could never say never. I simply made a personal decision last year to take a break from touring,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI\u2019ve been making lots of music. Roger [Taylor] and I are constantly working together on Queen projects behind the scenes. I don\u2019t know what the future holds. I\u2019m ever open to new adventures!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tVideos by American Songwriter\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May\u2019s latest statement came after he told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/culture\/music\/article\/queen-there-was-a-great-deal-of-contempt-poured-upon-us-fxkrgr6rk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The Times<\/a> that he\u2019d decided that he \u201cdidn\u2019t want to tour again.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA close family friend died when we were in the States. I said to my tour manager, \u2018I\u2019ll just nip home for a few days and come back,\u2019\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cShe looked me in the eyes and said, \u2018You know you can\u2019t do that.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n<p>What Brian May Originally Said About Touring<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI love to play, I love to travel, but the trade-off is sacrificing your freedom,\u201d May continued. \u201cI have a wife, grandchildren and a lot of astrophysics I want to do, so I\u2019m thinking maybe 50 years is enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, later in that same interview, May noted that he still thinks about what lies ahead for Queen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLast year I went to the Sphere, my juices started flowing. I sketched out a whole\u00a0Queen\u00a0show,\u201d he said. \u201cI think an immersive experience is still on the cards and it could conquer time and space, but currently you can\u2019t make it without AI and I have serious misgivings about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for why the world is still interested in Queen more than five decades after they burst onto the scene, May stated, \u201cIt is because we wrote as ordinary people, not as rock stars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe sang about pain, struggle, joy, dreams\u2026 emotions that ordinary people experience,\u201d he said. \u201cThat and the fact that we wrote a few good tunes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photo by Jo Hale\/FilmMagic<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Brian May clarifying his thoughts on touring.
