A doctor who previously treated Queen Camilla<\/a> died after she was allegedly bashed in the head with an ax and strangled by her husband \u2014 who then tried to pretend they were victims of a burglary, a court heard. <\/p>\n

Mark Cain, 45, allegedly killed his wife, Dr. Hannah Cain, while she was hosting a sleepover for their three kids, 8, 11, and 13, and two of their pals at their eastern England home. The 45-year-old mom was found \u201cunconscious and unresponsive\u201d in an upstairs bedroom early Sunday.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors told a courtroom Thursday that Mark Cain murdered his physician wife by \u201cstriking her on the head with an ax and then strangling her,\u201d the Eastern Daily Press reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The energy company director then chillingly called police to report a \u201csuspected burglary\u201d at their Dersingham property, located a mile from the royals\u2019 Sandringham Estate, and claimed he had a \u201cconfrontation with an intruder,\u201d prosecutors said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The dad, who was emotionless during Thursday\u2019s hearing, said his wife was \u201cupstairs asleep\u201d \u2014 when in fact she was \u201cunconscious and unresponsive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police then made the harrowing discovery in the bedroom, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

Hannah Cain, who worked at a medical practice used by senior royals and whose list of patients included Queen Camilla, suffered a \u201cblunt force injury to the right side of her head\u201d \u2013 as well as an injury \u201cthat could be suggestive of compression of the neck.\u201d<\/p>\n

King Charles and Queen Camilla were informed of her death, sources told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Hannah Cain was hailed as an \u201cexceptional doctor\u201d by a spokesperson for the Grimston Medical Center, the surgery where she had worked for the past year.<\/p>\n

She also ran Norfolk Sky Aesthetics, a local cosmetic business.<\/p>\n

A motive for the killing hasn\u2019t been revealed.<\/p>\n

The doctor\u2019s family said they are \u201cdevastated by the loss of [their] beautiful Hannah.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was kind, gorgeous and loving; a beloved mother, daughter, sister, auntie, daughter-in-law, and friend,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Hannah Cain\u2019s parishioner, Rev. Mark Capron, described the doc as a \u201cwell-loved and respected member of [the] community.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHer smile was radiant,\u201d he told the BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe brought joy to all who met her and that\u2019s certainly a memory that holds dear to me and many within this community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mark Cain has been remanded in custody.
