A person was shot during an incident involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the Bronx<\/a> on Thursday afternoon, according to information provided to Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, the New York Police Department<\/a> (NYPD) said in a post on X.<\/p>\n

The person who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital, where they were conscious and receiving medical attention, according to the NYPD.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The person’s identity and the extent of their injuries were not immediately known.<\/p>\n

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani took to X to denounce the shooting, stating that he contacted President Donald Trump over the incident.<\/p>\n

Mamdani wrote that agents allegedly surrounded a man and a child who were inside a vehicle before firing. He said the child was believed to be unharmed. Federal authorities have not publicly confirmed those details.<\/p>\n

“This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation,” Mamdani wrote. “I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city.”<\/p>\n

The mayor also called for ICE to be abolished and demanded that federal immigration agents leave city neighborhoods, hospitals and streets.<\/p>\n

The NYPD said its officers were not involved in the shooting and were not at the scene when it occurred.<\/p>\n

An NYPD spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is investigating the incident and directed additional questions to federal authorities.<\/p>\n

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said Thursday that she had been briefed on the shooting and called on federal authorities to provide a full account of what happened.<\/p>\n

“We expect federal authorities to provide a full and transparent accounting of the circumstances surrounding this incident,” Hochul wrote in a post on X. “New Yorkers deserve to know exactly what happened and why.”<\/p>\n

Representatives for ICE and DHS did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.<\/p>\n

It remains unclear what prompted the shooting, who fired the weapon or whether the injured individual was the subject of a federal law enforcement operation.<\/p>\n
