Chanting \u201cICE out of the Bronx\u201d protestors pushed up against barricades demanding answers for the violence that unfolded Thursday afternoon just outside of a Target between Marble Hill Avenue and 225th St.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The Department of Homeland Security says they were conducting a targeted ICE enforcement operation at around 4 p.m. to apprehend what the agency described as a \u201ccriminal illegal alien from the Dominican Republic\u201d who allegedly has multiple prior arrests and gang ties.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Exclusive video from the scene captures a heartbreaking moment after <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/rotten-to-its-core-mayor-mamdani-slams-ice-after-shooting-in-the-bronx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the shooting<\/a>. A young child can be seen reaching toward Belgal handcuffed lying on the pavement. In Spanish, the boy is heard repeatedly crying out, \u201cMy dad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Investigators are now reviewing the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The NYPD commissioner and officials say evidence collected at the scene indicates that an ICE agent fired at least seven rounds during the encounter, striking the driver in the neck.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The incident has drawn sharp criticism from city leaders.
