Zohran Mamdani<\/a> responded to Pete Davidson<\/a>‘s doubts about his connection with Staten Island. The New York City Mayor said winning over the borough would depend on delivering results. His comments came after the comedian questioned his connection to the borough.<\/p>\n

Zohran Mamdani says winning over Staten Island will come down to results<\/p>\n

New York Mayor responded to Pete Davidson remarks during the latest episode of Out of Office with the Mayor<\/a> hosted by Errol Louis on NY1.<\/p>\n

Louis brought up Pete Davidson’s remarks<\/a>, quoting, “I don’t know if he has Staten Island’s heart,” and asked Mamdani how he planned to win the borough, which he lost in 2025 elections. (via The Blast<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Mamdani said, “Results. It has to be on what you actually deliver. And look, when we’re talking about Staten Island, we’re talking about so many New Yorkers who are looking to build their lives. One of the highest rates of homeownership of any borough in New York City. People are looking to set roots down, and we have to make it easier for them to do so. We have to make it easier for them to raise their kids there.”<\/p>\n

During an interview with Variety, Pete Davidson questioned Mamdani’s connection with his hometown.<\/p>\n

Davidson said, “Zohran Mamdani \u2026 is he Staten Island? I don’t know. I don’t think he’s from Staten Island. I don’t have a problem with the guy, but I definitely don’t think he’s Staten Island at all. Staten Island’s the only red place in New York, and it’s violently red.”<\/p>\n

Mamdani also pointed to the potholes related concerns, arguing, “The other thing is the results of delivering when it comes to pothole politics.”<\/p>\n

The New York City Mayor discussed addressing issues Staten Island residents are facing. He added his administration would continue advocating for Staten Island and the city as a whole.<\/p>\n

Zohran Mamdani’s response<\/a> put focus on whether his administration’s work can strengthen his connection with Staten Island.<\/p>\n
