The Iron Curtain is cracking.<\/p>\n

A civil war is brewing inside the DSA over its support of Mayor Zohran Mamdani \u2014 with his socialist comrades up in arms over his attendance at an Oct. 7 vigil and his support of NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Youth chapters within the New York City Democratic Socialists of America endorsed a protest outside City Hall Wednesday \u2014 on the anniversary of Hamas\u2019 Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel \u2014 condemning the mayor\u2019s \u201cfailures to uphold his commitment to the Palestinian Liberation Movement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sources said that the heads of the local chapter moved swiftly to try to tamp down the public criticism of youth chapters who had endorsed the rally. <\/p>\n

But Mamdani was still heckled by the protesters<\/a> during a candlelit vigil for the victims later Wednesday at Union Square.<\/p>\n

\u201cZohran you can\u2019t hide, we charge you with genocide,\u201d they chanted at Hizzoner, who remained stone-faced through the jeers from his anti-Israel comrades.<\/p>\n

Screenshots of internal group chats from NYC-DSA\u2019s \u201cAnti-War Working Group\u201d obtained by The Post show members raging after leadership apparently threatened to pull the youth chapters\u2019 funding and told them to stop using \u201cpro-hamas dogwhistles\u201d \u2014 calling it \u201cunambiguously racist\u201d and \u201cinexcusable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The members of the group chat were up in arms over an Instagram post from Hunter College\u2019s Youth DSA chapter \u2014 which had endorsed the City Hall rally \u2014 claiming that NYC-DSA leaders threatened the youth chapters\u2019 funding.<\/p>\n

\u201cF\u2014ing DISGUSTING,\u201d one wrote<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m out of things to say with this chapter\u2019s leadership. It\u2019s just nonstop horses\u2013t,\u201d another chimed in.<\/p>\n

One member even offered to use their \u201cstatus as a Jew w\/ family in the entity\u201d to help respond to the brouhaha. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was born here but was signed up by fam for citizenship which I renounced, don\u2019t care about Jewish\/israeli feelings which, they should be made to cry more imho,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n

The increased tension came before Mamdani went on a fiery anti-ICE screed at a press conference about Thursday\u2019s shooting by federal agents of an alleged criminal migrant during an arrest in The Bronx, yet Hizzoner still faced accusations of being \u201ccomplicit\u201d <\/a>from protesters in the crowd.<\/p>\n

\u201cJessica Tisch must get ICE out of New York and end NYPD complicity with these terrorists,\u201d the NYC-DSA posted on X Friday. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Commissioner can\u2019t put a stop to these injustices, she must be fired,\u201d the group said, without directly calling on the mayor \u2014 who appointed Tisch to the post \u2014 to act.<\/p>\n

DSA-NYC co-chairs Grace Mausser and Gustavo Gordillo did not respond to requests for comment Friday.<\/p>\n
