They trekked through the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel (formerly known as the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel), following in the final footsteps of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller. The run ended on West Street in Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"844\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Kat-844x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-228598\"  \/>Kat Ioannou<br \/>Facebook photo by Kat Ioannou<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This event, hosted by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, memorializes\u00a0the 343 firefighters, police\u00a0officers and civilians who perished on Sept. 11, 2001. Among\u00a0the runners was Kathy Ioannou, from Dyker Heights, who has run in several marathons,\u00a0including New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., and London. She is also a member of the NYPD Runners\u2019 Club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">***<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York City\u2019s 82nd annual Columbus Day Parade will take place on Monday, Oct. 12 at 11:30 a.m. along Fifth Avenue from 42nd Street to 72nd Street. Raymond T. Dalio, founder and mentor of Bridgewater Associates, has been named the\u00a0grand marshal. However, the parade committee has announced his son, Matt Dalio, will represent his father at theparade.\u00a0Matt Dalio is the founder and CEO of Endless Studios.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"723\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/float-1024x723.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-228597\"  \/>The Brooklyn Catholic Diocese float at a past NYC Columbus Day Parade.<br \/>Eagle Urban Media\/file photo by Ted General<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0This parade, which is sponsored by the Columbus Citizens Foundation, is one of the largest celebrations of Italian-American heritage in the nation. Last year\u2019s parade was cancelled due to a Nor\u2019easter when Gov.
