{"id":369566,"date":"2026-10-10T03:12:10","date_gmt":"2026-10-10T03:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/369566\/"},"modified":"2026-10-10T03:12:10","modified_gmt":"2026-10-10T03:12:10","slug":"protesters-rally-during-trump-visit-to-syracuse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/369566\/","title":{"rendered":"Protesters rally during Trump visit to Syracuse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Donald Trump made a stop in Syracuse to rally in support of gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman.<\/p>\n<p>Critics, however, held an event of their own.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands filled Syracuse\u2019s Clinton Square Friday evening, just blocks from where President Trump was set to make remarks. Their message for the president: Not in our house, Central New York resists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat Donald J. Trump stands for is not what we stand for, it\u2019s not what real citizens of Syracuse and Central New York stand for,\u201d said Judy Jerome, an organizer with the CNY Solidarity Coalition and Indivisible Onondaga County.<\/p>\n<p>Protesters wanted to express their concern over the president and his administration\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president is not a friend of the environment, definitely not a friend in good immigration,\u201d Jerome said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/s-zaara-syracuse-protest-trump-100926.jpeg\" alt=\"protesters\" class=\"hashed-image image\" img-data-alignment=\"center\" img-data-width=\"percent-hundred\" loading=\"lazy\" img-data-caption=\"(Spectrum News 1)\" img-data-wrap-text=\"true\" img-data-editing=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>(Spectrum News 1)<\/p>\n<p>David Clark is a proud veteran of the United States Army, but he says he would never serve under the current commander in chief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would never ever volunteer to go into any military action with Trump as president and fight for corruption,&#8221;\u00a0Clark said. &#8220;I just wouldn\u2019t do it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And Dustin Eads with CNY Pride says the president\u2019s policies have been impacting his community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndividuals within my community are passing away or they\u2019re being attacked, they\u2019re being mistreated and their rights are getting taken away on a daily occurrence,\u201d Eads said.<\/p>\n<p>Jerome, who helped organize the protest, says having so many come together to make their disapproval and disappointment known is an important part of their resistance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat means everything,\u201d Jerome said. \u201cI mean that means that we come together, that we are all part of resisting the corruption of this particular administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After rallying at Clinton Square, protesters marched to the Oncenter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jerome says it doesn\u2019t stop with the protest; organizers are also encouraging protesters to make their voice heard in a way that counts: to get out and vote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"President Donald Trump made a stop in Syracuse to rally in support of gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman.
