a 40-point win over the Las Vegas Aces — A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray all rested — at Barclays Center on Aug. 9: 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.

“I’m glad that I had that little spot in the middle of the season,” said Allen, who was honored for her time in New York in a ceremony during Barclays Center’s final regular season game on Sept. 23. “I was playing and getting some minutes where I really felt that I took a hold of that, and was able to show myself a little bit here.”

Allen said the elimination loss “has not sunk in in any way,” and that she still felt like the team is scheduled to play “in a couple days.”

But there are no more games for Allen, who was known as a disruptor on defense with her lengthy build. Instead, she moved closer to her next potential career after ending her basketball life following three FIBA World Cup medals and a FIBA Asia Cup medal.

Next up for the Australian?

“I think I want to be an agent. That’s what I’m looking into. I’d like to be a sports agent. So I’ve been looking at that. I’m someone who’s really passionate about this game, and I just feel that I understand what players want. I feel like I’m a trusted individual as well, and obviously you’ve got to learn a bit in that. But that’s an area I want to be in.”

Allen’s experience as a commentator in the Melbourne Basketball League (MBL) also interested her in some sort of a potential career in that role.

“You get the adrenaline rush that you get when you play,” Allen said of being a commentator.

Still, with her eyes set on taking steps in retirement, Allen can see the growth of Liberty moving forward — even with herself removed from the organization.

“I just feel with the team that we have, I see us going further. I really saw us being in that final — in that championship game,” she said.

Rebecca Allen entered the 2026 WNBA season with the intention of it being her last.
