Expect brooms held high, plenty of Halloween spirit, and a group photo that’s straight out of a spellbook.

Even if you’d rather keep your feet firmly on dry land, the fun continues at Witches Hollow, with live music, food, local brews, vendors, and family-friendly activities along the shoreline. Tickets start at just $8, and who knows? You might even spot the Headless Horseman making a surprise appearance. Just remember: in Sleepy Hollow, spooky season is serious business.

Source / Sup Witches Festival

What to know: SUP Witches Festival

The main draw of the festival is a massive, costumed group paddle along the Sleepy Hollow waterfront at Kingsland Point Park.

Scores of paddlers deck out their boards, raise their broomsticks, and float down the Hudson River in full witchy regalia.

Organizers include Rivertowns SUP & Yoga alongside the Village of Sleepy Hollow, combining local outdoor culture with the town’s world-famous Halloween atmosphere. Beyond the water, spectators can hang out at “Witches Hollow” to catch live bands, sample local craft beers, grab food, browse artisan vendors, and soak up the autumn river views.

The festival history

The SUP Witches Festival started in 2020 as an informal, spontaneous group paddle organized by Tara Scheller, owner of Rivertowns SUP & Yoga.

What began as a fun, small gathering of local boarders wearing pointed hats quickly caught the eye of the community. Recognizing its charm, the Village of Sleepy Hollow partnered with Scheller to transform the casual outing into an official signature autumn tradition, drawing thousands of spectators and dozens of floating witches to the riverbanks each October.

Know before you go

🗓️ Date & Time: Saturday, October 10, 2026, from noon to 5:00 p.m. (Rain date: Sunday, October 11).

📍 Location: Kingsland Point Park, 299 Palmer Avenue, Sleepy Hollow, NY.

🎟️ Spectator Admission: $8 in advance or $10 at the gate; children under 8 enter free with a paying adult.

🧙‍♀️ Paddler Registration: Required in advance by October 7, 2026; entry covers festival access.

🏄‍♂️ Paddling Fees: $35 if bringing your own board/kayak; $50 for a SUP rental (limited availability for Rivertowns SUP & Yoga customers).

🦺 Safety & Gear Rules: Paddlers must have prior river experience, be able to swim, wear a mandatory costume, use a SUP leash, and wear a personal flotation device (PFD). The most stress-free option is taking the Metro-North Hudson Line directly out of Grand Central Terminal.

Take an express train to either Tarrytown Station or Philipse Manor Station. Philipse Manor puts you within an easy 10-to-15-minute walk of Kingsland Point Park. If landing at Tarrytown, you can hop a quick ride-share or take a brisk walk up the Riverwalk straight into the park while dodging all the Halloween road congestion.

Don’t miss out!
