Homeland Security Director Markwayne Mullin on Sunday ripped Gov. Kathy Hochul<\/a> for grandstanding over the shooting of a reputed gangbanger by ICE just days after she said nothing about an NYPD cop being stabbed by other illegal immigrants.<\/p>\n

Mullin accused Hochul of \u201chypocrisy\u201d for the way she suggested it was federal agents terrorizing the Empire State because Oscar Belgal was left with non-life-threatening wounds while trying to flee his arrest in the Bronx on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Neither Hochul nor other leading \u201ccareer sanctuary politicians\u201d said \u201canything when \u2026 an NYPD officer was stabbed seven times in this same neighborhood in the Bronx just last week,\u201d Mullin noted on Fox News\u2019<\/a> Shannon Bream Sunday, referring to off-duty NYPD Detective Jose Mercedes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were completely silent,\u201d he raged.<\/p>\n

Mullins noted the striking similarities between the suspects in Mercedes\u2019 stabbing, Dangelo Rafael Jean Caraballo and Sneider Mejia Bautista, and the shot migrant being championed by the left<\/p>\n

\u201cAll three of these criminals \u2026 all from the Dominican Republic, all had extensive criminal records, all should have been deported\u201d with previous containers, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen an NYPD officer got stabbed, no one did a press conference, no one was outside protesting, no one said a word,\u201d Mullin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then when Oscar, an individual who evaded us last month and has an extensive criminal background,\u201d he said, reading a list of his felony charges and his gang affiliation, \u201cthey\u2019re out there protesting for this guy?<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s absolute hypocrisy.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that Belga had built up an astonishing number of charges in the three years since he arrived illegally in the United States, including four counts of felony robbery, two of felony assault, two felony drug charges, and two felony larceny charges, as well as misdemeanor assault and weapons possession.<\/p>\n

He added that ICE was in New York to \u201cdo a job,\u201d after Hochul demanded that its agents stay out of the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho is going to get criminals off the streets that you keep releasing?\u201d Mullin asked.<\/p>\n

Hochul had accused ICE of the \u201cintentional infliction of pain, of chaos, [and] of trying to terrorize neighborhoods\u201d after agents fired into a vehicle containing a 5-year-old child during a targeted operation in the Marble Hill neighborhood<\/a> of the Bronx this week.<\/p>\n

Her office on Sunday dismissed criticism of her failing to address the Oct. 2 attack on Det. Mercedes, who has since left the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernor Hochul has tremendous respect for the\u00a0hardworking men and women of the New York City Police Department\u00a0and the crucial role they play in driving down crime and making New York safer,\u201d a spokesperson for Hochul\u2019s office told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cRather than politicizing this terrible incident, the Governor will continue to prioritize the real work that supports our law enforcement, including investing record amounts in law enforcement funding, strengthening laws to keep our communities safe, and protecting New Yorkers from rogue ICE agents.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Homeland Security Director Markwayne Mullin on Sunday ripped Gov.
