Clarkson, known for winning “American Idol” and later starring in shows like “The Voice” and “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” claimed a store employee treated her poorly and assumed she couldn’t afford the store’s products. The 44-year-old’s post has since gone viral, prompting her fans and netizens alike to flood the store’s social media pages with critical messages. The heat, apparently, has been too much for the New York store to bear, considering they’ve disabled all comments.<\/p>\n

“Wow, dude,” she continued before calling the store employee an “idiot” who “lost a huge sale.”<\/p>\n

Clarkson didn’t stop there. She added, “But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out”<\/p>\n

New York Specialty Store Disables Instagram Comments Following Kelly Clarkson’s Post<\/p>\n

Yall are missing the point. They didn’t treat a celebrity with respect, which for a high end store is quite literally business suicide. How do you think they treat regular people?<\/p>\n

Clarkson’s post has since been seen by 22 million people, prompting a flurry of responses from users who had her back.<\/p>\n

One user slammed the store for allegedly failing to “treat everyone with respect and kindness,” while another user said it’s wrong for store employees to assume what a customer can or cannot afford.<\/p>\n

Other X users also posted screenshots of their negative Google reviews, including one showing the company’s five-star rating plummeting to 3.6 stars.<\/p>\n

Critical reactions weren’t limited to X or Google, either. On Instagram<\/a>, reactions were much the same, if not worse, prompting Art of Play to disable users’ ability to comment.<\/p>\n

According to Page Six<\/a>, the New York specialty store declined to comment when asked about the alleged interaction.<\/p>\n

Kelly Clarkson Isn’t The Only Celebrity Who Has Allegedly Been Treated Poorly At Stores\"Bethenny<\/p>\n

While unfortunate, Clarkson isn’t the only celebrity who’s been mistreated at stores.<\/p>\n

Bethenny Frankel from “The Real Housewives of New York City” shared a similar experience years ago, telling her social media followers that she was stopped from entering a Chanel store in Chicago.<\/p>\n

Like Clarkson, the reality star and Skinny Girl business owner, who’s reportedly worth $80 million, said that when she tried to shop, the doorman, whom she described as Lurch in “The Addams Family,” told her she needed a prior appointment to enter.<\/p>\n

“To be treated like you’re an interloper\u2026 I didn’t realize we’re not allowed to walk into stores anymore!” she wrote.<\/p>\n

Frankel Says The Chanel Store Could’ve Handled Things Better<\/p>\n

In the post’s caption, Frankel reflected further on the situation and implied the Chanel store employee could’ve treated her better. She also said getting an appointment at the store wouldn’t have been a problem.<\/p>\n

“That’s beside the point,” she said. “I was straight off a plane in sweathy tshirt and not dolled up or looking wealthy. There are several ways to convey a message and this way was rudeness and elitist and exclusionary, which is also a crime.”<\/p>\n

Frankel continued, “In business, first impressions are lasting. I would never want anyone to feel lesser than, particularly from a luxury brand making billions off of people buying into the hype.” She finished by encouraging business owners and employees to be kind to customers of all “socioeconomic backgrounds,” calling it “timeless and classic.”<\/p>\n

Jennifer Lopez Denied Entry To Chanel\"Jennifer<\/p>\n

Jennifer Lopez is another celebrity reportedly blocked from entering a Chanel store, according to PEOPLE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The “Let’s Get Loud” singer tried to visit the store during her tour stop in Turkey but was turned away because it was at capacity.<\/p>\n

“OK, no problem,” Lopez reportedly replied before leaving to shop at other nearby luxury stores, including Celine and Beymen.<\/p>\n
