\n\tBeta Film<\/a> has closed major deals for two of its female-led highlights: royal drama \u201cQueen Silvia\u201d and upcoming series \u201cLa Vida Barcelona.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSweden\u2019s public broadcaster SVT has acquired the Swedish second window rights after Prime Video to \u201cQueen Silvia\u201d ahead of its world premiere in Cannes, while German public broadcaster ZDF has joined \u201cLa Vida Barcelona\u201d as co-production partner alongside Beta Film and Millstreet Films.<\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by Germany\u2019s Pyjama Pictures and Unlimited Stories for Prime Video in German-language territories and Nordics, and Sat.1, \u201cQueen Silvia\u201d brings to the screen the romance between German Brazilian interpreter Silvia Sommerlath (Alicia von Rittberg, \u201cCharit\u00e9,\u201d \u201cBecoming Elisabeth,\u201d \u201cCall My Agent! Berlin,\u201d \u201cMiss Sophie\u201d) and Swedish Crown Prince Carl Gustaf (Edvin Endre, \u201cThe Playlist,\u201d \u201cVikings,\u201d \u201cHammarskj\u00f6ld \u2013 Fight for Peace\u201d). What began as a chance encounter at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich developed into one of Europe\u2019s most famous royal love stories. The series follows the couple as they travel between Munich, Stockholm and the C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur, shedding light on the challenges they face in balancing love, duty and personal ambitions.<\/p>\n

\n\tKarolina Stallwood, president for acquisitions at SVT, said: \u201c \u2018Queen Silvia\u2019 is a romantic drama inspired by the real-life love story of Silvia Sommerlath and Crown Prince Carl Gustaf. Set against the backdrop of the early 1970s, the series offers a warm and engaging portrayal of their relationship and the events surrounding it. We\u2019re very pleased to bring the series to SVT\u2019s audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEmil Wiklund at Sweden\u2019s Unlimited Stories said: \u201cIt is a privilege to bring the love story of our King and Queen to the Swedish audience. We hope to capture the emotional truth of a love that has endured for almost 55 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cQueen Silvia\u201d is directed by Miguel Alexandre (\u201cSisi,\u201d \u201cGran Paradiso,\u201d \u201cShades of Happiness\u201d), who co-wrote the screenplay with Lisa Hofer (\u201cBlack Island\u201d), serving as head writers, and Pauline Wolff (\u201cStockholm Requiem,\u201d \u201cVaka\u201d). The showrunner is Carsten Kelber; the executive producers are Tina Ermuth, Frank Buchs, Carsten Kelber, Emil Wiklund, Manya Lutz-Moneim and Justus Riesenkampff. Pia L\u00fcke, Tim Bahalou and Frida Wallman are the producers. The series is supported by German Motion Picture Fund (GMPF), Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg (MBB), and FilmF\u00f6rderung Bayern (FFF).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cQueen Silvia\u201d celebrates its world premiere on Tuesday at the Grand Auditorium in the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrom the producers of hit series \u201cM\u00e1xima\u201d and the director of \u201cEmily in Paris,\u201d \u201cLa Vida Barcelona\u201d dives into the vibrant world of Barcelona\u2019s creative scene with an emotional coming-of-age story about ambition, identity, love and finding the courage to follow your own path. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEuphoria\u2019s\u201d Priscilla Delgado and Greta Fern\u00e1ndez from \u201cThe Walking Dead\u201d are starring alongside lead actress Holly Mae Brood. The series is directed by Katina Medina Mora (\u201cEmily in Paris,\u201d \u201cThe Summer I Turned Pretty\u201d and \u201cXO, Kitty\u201d), Charlotte Scott-Wilson (\u201cHold On\u201d) and Ayla Spaans (\u201cRakhi & Peppe,\u201d \u201cWhen We Were Strangers\u201d). <\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by Rachel van Bommel of Millstreet Films, \u201cLa Vida Barcelona\u201d follows young Dutch designer Julia, who is sent to Barcelona by her powerful mother with a secret mission to undermine a rival agency. But the city soon turns her plans upside down as Julia becomes drawn into a new job, a new life and two unexpected romances.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrank Seyberth, head of co-production, international fiction at ZDF, said: \u201cWe are excited to join \u2018La Vida Barcelona\u2019 as a co-production partner. With its relatable characters, romantic tone, the vibrant energy of Barcelona and a strong creative team, the series has all the ingredients to reach young audiences both in Germany and internationally.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLa Vida Barcelona\u201d is produced by Millstreet Films for Videoland in the Netherlands. The series, currently in post-production, also stars Marti\u00f1o Rivas (\u201cEl Internado\u201d) and Agust\u00edn Della Corte (\u201cSociety of the Snow\u201d), with scripts by Emily Reekers, Jikkie Schelling and Alix van der Goes.<\/p>\n

\n\tNestor Hernandez is executive producer for Beta Film. The series is supported by the Netherlands Film Fund Production Incentive, the Spanish Tax Rebate and the Creative Europe Media program.<\/p>\n
