Queen Camilla<\/a> is getting candid about one of\u00a0King Charles’<\/a>\u00a0most\u00a0“off-putting” habits.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“My husband and I actually read before dinner. We just like sitting quietly and reading,” Camilla says in a new BBC documentary, “The Book That Changed My Life.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I occasionally \u2015 when I’m deep in a book \u2015 hear him roaring with laughter about something. It’s very off-putting,” she exclaimed. “I can’t get back into my book, or I’ll suddenly start weeping, but it’s a lovely, quiet time.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The queen is an avid supporter of literature, and said in the documentary that\u00a0“if there’s no reading, personally we might as well all give up. Because I don’t think we’d even be human any longer.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

She also spoke about how impactful reading was on her own life, as Camilla said she\u00a0“left school quite young.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“In my day, women didn’t go to university, so I think reading has been most of my education,” the royal shared<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Camilla is an incredibly passionate reader, and even launched her own book club, called The Queen’s Reading Room.<\/p>\n

The Reading Room has an annual festival, regularly shares book recommendations through social media, and even gives out a Queen’s Reading Room Medal<\/a>, which “celebrates the extraordinary ‘reading heroes’ who champion books and storytelling across the nation.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the charity’s website<\/a>, Camilla writes that\u00a0“books \u2014 from authors around the globe \u2014 have enriched my life since I was a child.”<\/p>\n

“It has therefore been such a joy to watch my Reading Room grow over the years into a thriving book community,” she added.\u00a0“Now a charity, I hope that we, together with our partners, can foster in adults and children alike a lifelong love of literature and connect more people with that special magic that can only be found in the leaves of a book.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
