He <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/21\/sports\/can-chaney-johnson-carve-out-role-with-post-tanking-nets\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hustled and worked his way<\/a> into a two-way deal with the Nets.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the \u00fcber-athletic Johnson is threatening to force his way from a two-way feel-good story into being more than that. Maybe into a standard contract. Or, even into rebuilding Brooklyn\u2019s rotation.<\/p>\n<p>In essence, Johnson had the Nets\u2019 curiosity. But he\u2019s rapidly getting their attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just come in and make each other better, you know what I\u2019m saying?\u201d Johnson told The Post. \u201cOf course, we\u2019re playing for a job, but we\u2019re playing to win as well. So it\u2019s like we just want to make each other better.
