{"id":372140,"date":"2026-10-13T17:40:33","date_gmt":"2026-10-13T17:40:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/372140\/"},"modified":"2026-10-13T17:40:33","modified_gmt":"2026-10-13T17:40:33","slug":"nyc-launches-program-to-help-new-yorkers-seeking-debt-relief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/372140\/","title":{"rendered":"NYC launches program to help New Yorkers seeking debt relief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) \u2014 If you have accrued debt from City fines, you might just be in luck.<\/p>\n<p>New York City officials have launched a debt relief program, Debt Demolisher, to assist small businesses and homeowners.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/pix11.com\/\" class=\"promo-link__link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n\t\tDiscover more local reporting on our homepage\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The program assists eligible New Yorkers in resolving debt from City fines at a reduced cost. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCity government shouldn\u2019t saddle New Yorkers with endless fines and interest,\u201d said Mayor Zohran Mamdani. \u201cWhen the city issues a fine, the goal is to incentivize compliance with the rules that keep all of us safe and healthy, not make it impossible to grow your business or repair your home.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Infractions may range from building code violations to failing to properly dispose of a mattress.<\/p>\n<p>Debt Demolisher will run through Jan. 10, 2027.
