Medics took the victim to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>The incident comes at a time of a continued rise in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/09\/05\/spike-in-subway-assaults-fueled-by-attacks-on-elderly-commuters-nypd-transit-chief\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">felony assaults<\/a> in the system \u2014 up 12% this year, with 525 incidents compared to 470 by this time last year.<\/p>\n<p>Misdemeanor assaults have increased 16% in transit, to 1,304 from 1,120.
