STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Pete Davidson<\/a> says there\u2019s only one person who could convince him to make a full-time return to \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d: Lorne Michaels. <\/p>\n

The Staten Island native said he\u2019d \u201cdo anything for Lorne\u201d in a recent interview with \u201cPeople<\/a>,\u201d crediting the show\u2019s longtime creator and executive producer for launching his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI owe that guy my life. He jump-started everything,\u201d Davidson said. \u201cI had a great time hosting last time, and anytime you get that call, it\u2019s an honor and a privilege. It\u2019s always relevant, it\u2019s a hot show. People look forward to it, and the cast is great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davidson joined \u201cSNL\u201d in 2014 at just 20 years old, making him one of the youngest cast members<\/a> in the show\u2019s history. He stuck around for eight seasons <\/a>before leaving in 2022, later returning to host in October 2023 and making an appearance at SNL\u2019s 50th anniversary celebration<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Just last week, Davidson popped back into \u201cSNL\u201d for a surprise \u201cWeekend Update\u201d appearance<\/a> alongside fellow Staten Island native Colin Jost, where the two joked about the retired Staten Island Ferry they bought<\/a> for $280,000 in hopes of turning it into a floating entertainment venue. <\/p>\n

Davidson joked about renaming the ferry to a more positive name, the \u201cTitanic 2,\u2033 and even took a few playful jabs at his hometown, with Davidson promoting the boat as a floating home for Staten Islanders who promised to flee the city should Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani win the election.<\/p>\n

As \u201cSNL\u201d continues its 51st season, the show has already seen a mix of new and returning faces. Recent hosts have included Amy Poehler, Sabrina Carpenter, Miles Teller and Nikki Glaser.<\/p>\n

Jost remains behind the \u201cWeekend Update\u201d desk with Michael Che, joined by longtime cast members Kenan Thompson, Chloe Fineman, Bowen Yang and Mikey Day. The season also introduced five new featured players.<\/p>\n
