A man suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon during a dispute at a recording studio in Hampton, police said.<\/p>\n
Hampton Public Safety Communications received a report of a shooting at about 4:30 p.m. in the first block of East Queens Way. Officers arrived and found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Hampton Police Division.<\/p>\n
Fire and rescue personnel transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n
A preliminary investigation found that the victim and a suspect were at the recording studio when they got into a verbal argument. The dispute escalated into a physical struggle over a firearm, which discharged and struck the victim, police said.<\/p>\n
The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by the Hampton Police Major Crimes Unit. Detectives believe the incident stemmed from a dispute between two people who knew each other and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community, police said.<\/p>\n
