Yes, it may only be October, but Kevin McCallister was back at the Plaza Hotel on Monday…and this time, his family checked in with him.<\/p>\n

The winner of last December\u2019s Kevin lookalike contest<\/a> arrived in full costume to receive his grand prize: an overnight stay in the iconic Manhattan hotel where scenes from the movie \u201cHome Alone 2: Lost in New York\u201d were filmed.<\/p>\n

Landon Collins, a 7-year-old from Alabama, won the contest, which was held by Qiviuk Boutique, a handcrafted knitwear shop inside the hotel that sells replicas of the winter hats<\/a> worn by McCallister in the \u201cHome Alone\u201d movies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Collins approached the concierge desk Monday wearing his green overcoat, khaki pants and knitted Kevin hat. <\/p>\n

\u201cI love walking around seeing other people looking at me think I\u2019m Kevin,\u201d he said. \u201cIt made me feel famous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many greeted him with “Hello, Kevin!” while he was in character to receive the hotel\u2019s \u201cHome Alone: Fun in New York\u201d package<\/a> that includes a limo ride around Manhattan while enjoying a large cheese pizza, and a 16-scoop sundae delivered to the hotel room. \u00a0<\/p>\n

His feet hardly touching the ground, barely able to look over the counter, he asked for the key to his room.<\/p>\n

\u201cThink about it, a kid going into a hotel, making a reservation?\u201d as Kevin says in the movie while just down the hall from where Collins checked in Monday. \u201cI don\u2019t think so.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unlike the real Kevin McCallister, Collins was joined on the trip by his family. That included both of his grandmothers and his 8-year-old sister Lily, who dressed for the occasion as Holly Golightly from \u201cBreakfast at Tiffany\u2019s.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so, so, so grateful,\u201d said Collins\u2019 grandmother Misty King, who entered him in the contest last year after hearing about it on the radio. \u201cWe will remember this forever, cherish it always.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collins entered his room on the 18th floor and soon began walking in Kevin’s footsteps. He jumped on his king-sized bed, made the iconic hand-on-cheeks scream face in the bathroom mirror and peaked inside the room\u2019s snack cabinet. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI like the fancy hotel room,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He then made his way back to the lobby, went through the iconic revolving doors and was met by his limo driver, who proudly held a pizza box. <\/p>\n

Collins had a slice in the backseat, poured some Coca-Cola into a champagne glass and watched \u201cHome Alone 2\u201d on the limo\u2019s television.<\/p>\n

He gazed out the window at the Empire State Building, played with toys at FAO Schwarz and made stops in Times Square and at Radio City Music Hall. He capped the tour by visiting the location where \u2013 spoiler alert \u2013 Kevin is reunited with his mother at Rockefeller Center, which Collins later adorably mispronounced. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI rided in a limo,\u201d he said, \u201cand I saw the Empire State Building and the Fellerrocker Center.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n

The cherry on top of his stay came at the hotel. After a quick wardrobe change into Kevin\u2019s blue bathrobe, Collins opened the door to find a bellhop pushing a 16-scoop ice cream sundae with a variety of toppings plus chocolate, caramel and raspberry sauces into his room.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never seen so much ice cream in one bowl,\u201d King said. \u201cAnd of course the kids were ecstatic over an entire container of cherries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collins was asked how many scoops he wanted, and requested even more than Kevin, who famously said “Two? Make it three, I’m not driving.”<\/p>\n

“Five,” Collins said. <\/p>\n

The bellhop obliged, and Collins of course tipped him with a stick of gum and a turtle dove ornament — which he also passed out to his fellow guests.<\/p>\n

Just before going to bed after a long day as Kevin, Collins was asked what he\u2019d do if the Wet Bandits knocked on his hotel room door.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m gonna set traps up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The lookalike contest was launched in November by Qiviuk Boutique, in collaboration with digital creator New York Mickey. Five finalists were invited back to the hotel in mid-December and asked to recite a McCallister line from the movies.<\/p>\n

Collins, while peaking over an open newspaper with a front-page headline saying the Wet Bandits escaped, said \u201cMerry Christmas, ya filthy animal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe obviously looked like him quite a bit but also he had this charismatic approach to everything,\u201d said Fernando Alvarez, president of Qiviuk Boutique. \u201cEnjoyable, playful. He was enacting every move that Kevin had made with a very personal touch to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The shop will hold the Kevin McCallister lookalike contest again this holiday season, with entrants between the ages of 6 and 11 welcome to register in person at the shop between Nov. 20 and 23. The shop says family members are also encouraged to dress up in “Home Alone” inspired outfits.<\/p>\n

The winner will be decided Nov. 25 by a combination of staff and online voting and will, once again, be awarded an overnight stay at the Plaza for its \u201cHome Alone\u201d package<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What advice does Collins have for those entering this year\u2019s contest?<\/p>\n

\u201cUmm,\u201d he said, \u201clook like Kevin.\u201d<\/p>\n
