Jalen Hurts\u2019 \u201cunique\u201d injury has been revealed \u2014\u00a0and it could be serious.<\/p>\n
The Eagles announced on Thursday that Hurts is dealing with a superficial blood clot in his calf that will sideline him for at least for Sunday\u2019s game against the Panthers.<\/p>\n
The team had been aware of the injury after it was suffered in a matchup against the Rams on Oct. 4.<\/p>\n

However, the team said that \u201con Wednesday night, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the small blood clot.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Eagles are 2-3 and coming off three straight losses, including a heartbreaking 19-17 loss to the Jaguars in London on Sunday<\/a> on a last-second field goal.<\/p>\n Philadelphia will now turn to Tanner McKee as the starter. McKee, a third-year player out of Stanford, has played in six games throughout his first two seasons,\u00a0completing 54 of 88 passes for 597 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.<\/p>\n Most of that action came in meaningless season finales the past two years against the Giants and Commanders.<\/p>\n Cole Payton, a fifth-round rookie out of North Dakota State, is currently the backup. NFL Network reported the Eagles could bring back<\/a> veteran Andy Dalton after releasing him last week.<\/a><\/p>\n Hurts\u2019 injury is the latest drama around the team. He informed the medical staff he had been cleated during the Rams game on October 4th,\u201d the team said. \u201cThis was his first treatment session for the calf injury following the game, after having practiced in full both Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, Jalen received treatment, practiced in full, and was added to the practice\u00a0report. Tanner McKee is expected to take over as Eagles starter. Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that Jalen could safely play. Doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and the return flight to Philadelphia.\u00a0
