Renovations to the building must adhere to historic preservation standards.<\/p>\n<p>Over its more than century-long history, the hotel has changed ownership several times and undergone multiple renovation projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Plaza last closed in 2005 for a major redevelopment that added more than 180 condominiums alongside more than 200 hotel rooms.<\/p>\n<p>It remains unclear how the upcoming construction will affect full-time residents.
