\n\tThe Metropolitan Museum of Art<\/a>, Whitney Museum of American Art<\/a> and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum will participate in the inaugural Art Week NYC, organizers announced Friday, bringing some of New York<\/a>\u2018s biggest cultural institutions into the four-day event.<\/p>\n

\n\tTaking place Nov. 11 to 14, the first edition will also include the Brooklyn Museum, the Frick<\/a> Collection, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Queens Museum, El Museo del Barrio and the New York<\/a> Public Library. The new roster brings museums, nonprofits and civic organizations into a program originally built around the city\u2019s galleries, offering a chance to \u201cintroduce people to artists and cultural spaces they may not otherwise encounter,\u201d said New York City Council Deputy Speaker Dr. Nantasha Williams.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe New Museum will serve as the event\u2019s primary institutional partner, hosting five public conversations on Nov. 14 with Artforum, which, like WWD, is owned by Penske Media Corp. Titled \u201cSite Conditions: Five Talks on Art and the City,\u201d the program will bring together artists, architects, filmmakers, critics and writers to discuss everything from museum redesigns and artists moving into filmmaking to the cost of working in New York and the use of artificial intelligence in studio practice.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe are thrilled that the New Museum will be at its center, as a catalyst for dialogues between artists, architects, curators, filmmakers and the public,\u201d said New Museum director Massimiliano Gioni.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe talks coincide with the museum\u2019s fall exhibitions, including a major Arthur Jafa survey, Diego Marcon\u2019s first solo museum exhibition in New York, a show tracing 400 years of the Bowery and a new commission by artist Ho Tzu Nyen in the museum\u2019s OMA-designed expansion.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther participating organizations include the International Center of Photography, the High Line, Madison Square Park Conservancy, the FLAG Art Foundation and the Immigrant Artist Biennial. Select museums and institutions are participating in partnership with Bloomberg Connects.<\/p>\n

\n\tArt Week NYC first announced its gallery lineup<\/a> in August, including Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian, David Zwirner and Pace Gallery. More than 80 galleries are participating in the inaugural event, which will span Chelsea, TriBeCa, the Lower East Side, the Upper East Side and other neighborhoods, with exhibitions, gallery openings, artist talks and special programming.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNew York City\u2019s world-renowned galleries and museums draw art lovers from all over the globe, but they belong first and foremost to the New Yorkers who live here,\u201d City Council Speaker Julie Menin said.<\/p>\n
