Stride4ward Inc.<\/a>, a Queens-based nonprofit, announced the pilot launch of Everyday Strides, a digital platform designed to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) stay engaged, explore new interests and participate in meaningful daily activities.<\/p>\n

The pilot, which can be found at App.Stride4ward.org<\/a>, is open to individuals and caregivers interested in exploring the platform and providing feedback.<\/p>\n

According to the nonprofit, Everyday Strides was created for individuals and families in need of accessible, engaging activities outside of traditional day programs and structured services.<\/p>\n

Stride4ward, which is based out of Rego Park<\/a>, is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the lives of individuals with diverse abilities through everyday community programs and services.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new digital platform builds on its mission by bringing individuals together through the web to connect for activities across several areas, including movement, geography, cultural awareness, science exploration, reading, creative expression, math and problem-solving. Participants can explore activities at their own pace, based on their interests and preferences.<\/p>\n

In addition to daily activities, Everyday Strides provides access to community resources, opportunities to connect with others, and information about community participation.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot everyone has access to a day program, and even those who do still have many hours outside of their programs,\u201d said Devi Cusack, founder and executive director of Stride4ward. \u201cWe wanted to create something individuals could return to every day, something that encourages curiosity, provides choices, and gives caregivers another resource to support engagement at home.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pilot will allow Stride4ward to gather feedback directly from individuals with IDD, caregivers and community organizations. Their experiences will help guide future improvements to the platform.<\/p>\n

Stride4ward said it is also seeking community referral partners, including disability service organizations, care coordination organizations, advocacy groups and caregiver networks, to help introduce Everyday Strides to individuals and families who may benefit. Organizations do not need to enter into a formal partnership to share the free pilot resource.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t expect to have all the answers at launch,\u201d Cusack added. \u201cWe want individuals and caregivers to explore Everyday Strides and tell us what works, what doesn\u2019t, and what would make it more useful in their everyday lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
