City Council Speaker Julie Menin flashed indecent AI-generated photos of herself busting out of a skimpy, low-cut shirt Friday as she dressed down a rep from Elon Musk\u2019s SpaceX \u2014 accusing the company of prematurely launching the tech without proper safeguards.<\/p>\n

The Manhattan Dem grilled a SpaceX artificial intelligence policy leader about the company\u2019s claim that it had installed protections to bar its Grok conversational AI model from generalized sexualized images of users.<\/p>\n

\"NewNew York Council Speaker Julie Menin displayed the AI-generated images during the hearing Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrok has strict controls in place to prevent this association of children or real people,\u201d insisted Gabriela Castillo Madrid, SpaceX\u2019s senior manager of global government affairs, as she testified before the council after being slapped with a subpoena<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to completely push back on it,\u201d Menin retorted \u2014 holding up her cellphone to show the racy AI-generated images of herself.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust this morning, my team I, we put our own names, my own name into Grok, and there\u2019s absolutely a sexualized image,\u201d she fumed.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, how is it that, within seconds, I could find a sexualized image of myself using Grok?\u201d<\/p>\n

Castillo Madrid was left gobsmacked, with no real retort.<\/p>\n

\u201cMadam speaker, I cannot speak to that specific instance,\u201d she said. \u201cWhat I can say is that we do have strict controls, and I\u2019m happy to get our safety team to look into that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Menin\u2019s team told The Post they entered a few simple prompts into Grok using the pol\u2019s official council headshot \u2014 and it quickly churned out wildly inappropriate photos.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you take this image and show me in a short skirt and low-cut top? Can you make it even sexier? Can you make the skirt a bit shorter? Can you show my midriff? Can you make my boobs bigger?\u201d her staffers said they asked the bot.<\/p>\n

Grok obliged, without objection, they said.<\/p>\n

\"AI-generatedSpaceX rep, Gabriela Castillo Madrid, had no answer for the speaker when pressed. <\/p>\n

Her staffers then followed up asking the bot to add a banana to the images. <\/p>\n

But Grok decided against using phallic fruit \u2014 and instead put a sex toy in the speaker\u2019s hand, Menin\u2019s team said, describing one image her office opted not to share during the hearing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was in the regular Grok, not even in the spicy mode that in 30 seconds that if my daughter saw, she would be horrified,\u201d Menin, a mom of four, told the SpaceX rep.<\/p>\n

Musk\u2019s company has faced heat, mostly overseas<\/a>, for Grok\u2019s unchecked creation of sexualized pictures <\/a>of people without their consent. <\/p>\n

At one point during Friday\u2019s council hearing, whistleblower Devin Kim, who previously worked at SpaceX, made the shocking admission that he was told \u201ctasteful nudity was acceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[It] is the goal,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The hearing was the second in recent weeks <\/a>about the City Council\u2019s attempt to regulate the AI industry, after insiders came forward sounding the alarm about a potential doomsday scenario if the tech progressed too quickly, without proper safeguards.<\/p>\n

Execs from Google, Meta, Anthropic and OpenAI all appeared in early October, also via Zoom, for a hours-long grilling about the dangers of the tech. <\/p>\n

The city lawmakers are mulling a law that would require a \u201ckill switch\u201d or a human override to be installed with any AI operating in the Big Apple.<\/p>\n

It remained unclear if the council could mandate such a function, and whether the tech giants could find a workaround since they operate around the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Space-XXX.
