No Kings, the grassroots movement that has repeatedly taken to the streets to protest President Trump, shifted their tactics Saturday, with events across the country aiming to increase voter turnout for the midterm elections.<\/p>\n

The coalition will hold thousands of \u201cNo Kings: Vote Early\u201d events nationwide, including at least 13 across the five boroughs. Instead of one main march, the day will focus on rallies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power,\u201d the group said in a statement on its website.<\/a> \u201cUnlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early is not purely a protest. Instead\u2026 it\u2019s a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing our community together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.\u201d<\/p>\n

More than 200 people gathered on the steps of the historic James A. Farley Post Office building on Eighth Ave. near 33rd St. on Saturday afternoon, holding signs that read, \u201cVote your power,\u201d \u201cPostal workers are election heroes\u201d and \u201cTrump lies all the time,\u201d among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarly voting in NYC starts Oct. 24. What\u2019s your plan?\u201d was written in chalk on the sidewalk.<\/p>\n

Longtime NYC activist Jay W. Walker<\/a>, speaking into a loudspeaker, told the crowd, \u201cWhat we are doing here is defending the Constitution. We the people defend the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rev. Al Sharpton is expected to speak at an event hosted at Washington Square Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The movement\u2019s name, No Kings, references its rejection of Trump\u2019s perceived authoritarian policies.<\/p>\n

Their first protest on June 14, 2025,<\/a> coinciding with Trump\u2019s 79th birthday and a military parade in Washington, drew more than 50,000 people to the streets in NYC despite rainy weather.<\/p>\n

The coalition held nationwide rallies again in October 2025<\/a> and in March 2026 with growing numbers of participants.<\/p>\n
