A Democratic Governors Association-backed Super PAC is pouring more than $4 million into boosting Gov. Kathy Hochul\u2019s re-election bid as she desperately tries to fend off Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman<\/a> in the tight race.<\/p>\n

Greater Empire State \u2014 which began releasing anti-Blakeman attack ads Saturday \u2014 reported receiving $4.34 million in donations between late July and Oct. 2 to hype Hochul, according to its latest state campaign filings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A big chunk of the money came from former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg; the Greater New York Hospital Association Management Corp.; and Leadership for New York, a super PAC run by Jay Martin, a political strategist and former executive director at the New York Apartment Association.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Each gave $1 million.<\/p>\n

Other donations include $600,000 from the Sports Betting Alliance, which pushes online gambling interests, and John B. Hess, chief executive officer of Hess Corporation.<\/p>\n

The Super PAC on Saturday released its first two<\/a> ads<\/a> of the general election, slamming \u201cMAGA Bruce Blakeman\u201d for his support of \u201cDonald Trump\u2019s cost-raising agenda that is hurting New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ex-NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg funneled $1 million to Hochul through the Super PAC, Greater Empire State. Office of Governor Kathy Hochul<\/p>\n

Hochul said Trump\u2019s name roughly 20 times during Tuesday\u2019s debate <\/a>as she\u2019s tried to link his unpopularity in Democratic New York State \u2013 especially NYC\u00a0\u2014 to Blakeman. However, the Nassau County executive said that although he and the president are friends the relationship won\u2019t influence his decision-making if elected governor.<\/p>\n

Blakeman spokeswoman Madison Spanodemos said the late cash infusion for Hochul shows just how desperate Dems are.<\/p>\n

The Super PAC released an ad calling out Blakeman for supporting\u201cDonald Trump\u2019s cost-raising agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe entire nation now realizes that New Yorkers are ready to fire the worst governor in America for her high taxes and soaring electric bills,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cKathy Hochul can spend millions trying to cover for her failed record, but money can\u2019t overshadow the highest taxes and utility bills in the nation created on Hochul\u2019s watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Kevin Donohue, a spokesman for the super PAC insisted Hochul \u201cis in a commanding position to win re-election, \u201cadding \u201cher coattails will help\u00a0 Democrats win big down-ballot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn stark contrast, Bruce Blakeman\u2019s MAGA campaign is struggling with weak polling and fundraising \u2014 and an extreme pro-Trump message that couldn\u2019t be more out of touch with New Yorkers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

A Pollfinity survey released Tuesday said Blakeman narrowed the gap behind Hochul to just 3 points, but another official for the PAC claimed \u201cthey are not worried about this race.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hochul\u2019s campaign declined comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
