{"id":375983,"date":"2026-10-18T01:34:35","date_gmt":"2026-10-18T01:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/375983\/"},"modified":"2026-10-18T01:34:35","modified_gmt":"2026-10-18T01:34:35","slug":"news-12-new-jersey-143","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/375983\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | New Jersey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police released images of two of the four men they say are responsible for the <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/12-year-old-girl-wounded-in-bronx-shooting-2-men-sought\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shooting that wounded a 12-year-old girl<\/a> in the Westchester Square section of the Bronx.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The group of strangers walked up to the girl and her friend just before 8:30 p.m. Monday inside the Pearly Gates park, near Tratman and St. Peter&#8217;s avenues.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police sources say the group shouted &#8220;Ewok,&#8221; and held up up Makk Ballas, or Mac Ballers, gang signs.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The 12-year-old ran then ran from the park and the alleged gang members opened fire.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The NYPD says the girl was shot in the torso and the left foot.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Sources close to the investigation tell News 12 that she was not the gunman&#8217;s intended target.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A good Samaritan took the 12-year-old to a hospital. She is expected to recover physically, according to the NYPD.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police sources say detectives recovered seven shell casings and a 9 mm handgun at the scene.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Detectives previously said they were searching for just two men in connection to the shooting.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The men&#8217;s intended target &#8211; and possible motive &#8211; was not immediately known.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Bronx Borough President Vanessa L.
