{"id":376210,"date":"2026-10-18T11:56:15","date_gmt":"2026-10-18T11:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/376210\/"},"modified":"2026-10-18T11:56:15","modified_gmt":"2026-10-18T11:56:15","slug":"huge-staten-island-warehouse-burns-in-massive-four-alarm-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/376210\/","title":{"rendered":"Huge Staten Island warehouse burns in massive four-alarm fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">STATEN ISLAND (PIX11) &#8212; A spectacular four-alarm fire in Staten Island tonight lit up the night sky and was visible for miles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">More than 200 firefighters battled to bring those flames under control.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Emergency responders got the call of a fire on Hylan Boulevard and Loretto Street around 5:45 p.m. Saturday.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a data-ylk=\"slk:Discover more local reporting on our homepage;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/pix11.com\/\" class=\"promo-link__link\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Discover more local reporting on our homepage\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When firefighters arrived,\u00a0 they found a large vacant warehouse behind the old church of Saint Joachim and Saint Anne fully engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The fire grew to four alarms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Two hundred firefighters responded and brought the flames under control in less than three hours, with only one minor injury: a burn to a firefighter&#8217;s leg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;There is heavy damage to the structure. The roof did collapse, and right now due to the collapse we&#8217;re keeping firefighters away because of the stability of the walls,&#8221; Kevin Woods, FDNY Chief of Operations, said at a news conference near the burning warehouse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Mount Loretto campus, where the fire started in a vacant warehouse, is among the largest on Staten Island, with 36 Buildings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Among the structures, two schools and a senior center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Fire officials say this fire will not affect them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We don&#8217;t know how it started, but it is being investigated by Fire Marshals,&#8221; Woods said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
