Last week the New York Jets snapped a three game losing streak when they defeated the Cleveland Browns. In a driving rain in East Rutherford, New Jersey the Jets got standout performances from Braelon Allen, Garrett Wilson and David Bailey. Allen rushed for 100+ yards, Wilson had 100+ yards receiving, and Baily got three sacks. The Jets defense as a whole sacked Browns quarterback eight times. The Jets outgained the Browns on the ground and through the air. Despite all this, the Browns scored a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to take the lead, their first lead of the game. Often times in the past the Jets would fold in such a situation. Not this time. The Jets responded with a game winning touchdown drive as they defeated the Browns 17 – 12. It was an ugly win, but a win is a win.<\/p>\n
The win gave the Jets a 2-3 record on the season. Today the Jets try to put together their first winning streak of the season when they go on the road to take on the New England Patriots. Kickoff is scheduled for shortly after 1 PM EDT.<\/p>\n
The Patriots have had a challenging schedule to start the 2026 season. They have yet to face a team with a losing record. Despite the tough schedule the Patriots are sitting in second place in the AFC East with a 3-2 record, one game back of the Buffalo Bills and one game ahead of the New York Jets. The Patriots have won two straight, including a 45 – 17 demolition of the Las Vegas Raiders last week. Drake Maye appears to be rounding into shape after a rough start to the season. He and the Patriots present a formidable challenge for the Jets today. Should the Jets pull off an upset here, they will move into second place in the AFC East.<\/p>\n
The Jets are missing several offensive starters today, including starting running back Breece Hall, starting guard Dylan Parham and starting wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, as well as starting edge rusher Joseph Ossai, among others.<\/p>\n
The Patriots have dismantled the Jets on a regular basis over the last 15 years. If the Jets want to compete for a playoff spot, at some point that will need to change. Can the Jets get it done this afternoon? We\u2019ll find out soon enough.<\/p>\n
