{"id":377543,"date":"2026-10-20T02:46:08","date_gmt":"2026-10-20T02:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/377543\/"},"modified":"2026-10-20T02:46:08","modified_gmt":"2026-10-20T02:46:08","slug":"news-12-brooklyn-war-of-words-on-x-highlights-low-attendance-record-at-city-council-meetings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/377543\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Brooklyn | War Of Words On X Highlights Low Attendance Record At City Council Meetings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A war of words between two New York City Council members is now highlighting attendance records at city council meetings. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Bronx Council Member Oswald Feliz posted to X last week and pointed out Brooklyn Council Member Chi Oss\u00e9&#8217;s attendance record.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">According to the <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/intro.nyc\/reports\/attendance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">independent database Intro.NYC<\/a>, Oss\u00e9 has missed four legislative meetings this year &#8212; the worst of 51 city council members. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The data also showed Oss\u00e9 missed 22 committee meetings (67.6% or 46 out of 68 meetings); a percentage only slightly higher than Feliz, who missed 32 committee meetings (67.3% or 66 out of 98 meetings). <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">To put that into perspective, Oss\u00e9 and Feliz ranked sixth and fifth, respectively, when it came to the worst committee meeting attendance. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Oss\u00e9 took to X on Monday and wrote, &#8220;I&#8217;ve been traveling across New York State fighting to take over ConEd to lower our energy bills! I promise I&#8217;ll be back soon xo.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A spokesperson for Oss\u00e9 sent News 12 the following statement: &#8220;Council Member Oss\u00e9 has been working tirelessly to make New York more affordable. This week, he&#8217;s traveling across the state to engage communities in the fight for lower energy bills.
