On Monday morning,\u00a0Queen Mary met King Frederik X at Copenhagen Airport to greet Vietnam’s President and First Lady. T\u00f4 L\u00e2m, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and his wife,\u00a0Ng\u00f4 Ph\u01b0\u01a1ng Ly, arrived in Denmark for a three-day state visit marking 55 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tonight, the king and queen will host a gala banquet at Christiansborg Palace in the couple\u2019s honor.<\/p>\n

For the occasion, Mary<\/a> repurposed an outfit she’d worn before. She opted for a polished navy tweed dress with a fitted bodice, a contrasting collar, long sleeves, and an A-line skirt, proof that she’s part of a generation of European monarchs who know how important it is to repurpose great fashion. The Look struck the right institutional note for a morning of official greetings.<\/p>\n

The dress is by the Danish designer\u00a0Lasse Spangenberg, who founded his label in 2001 and is best known for made-to-measure bridal, evening and cocktail designs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mary<\/a> debuted it in January 2026, on the snowy first day of her and King Frederik\u2019s state visit to Estonia. Back then, she completed the look with the Flood Sapphire, a brooch with a long history. The item, made up of a sapphire and diamond, was created around 1840 for Queen Marie Sophie Frederikke, consort of King Frederik VI. This time around, Queen Mary decided to keep that heirloom in the royal family’s vault.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A piece that did return was a headpiece. Just as she did in Estonia, Queen Mary topped the tweed dress with a headband, wrapping snugly around her head and providing some color coordination for the look. It’s a touch that has become something of a signature for Mary, who often pulls off different headwear pieces.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Queen Mary also brought back a rust-red rectangular bag, the Mortimer by Anya Hindmarch. It hadn\u2019t been seen since she first carried it in March of this year at the Danish Heart Association\u2019s research awards. Today, she matched it with coordinating burgundy heels and gloves, finishing the look with a warm pop of color against the various deep blue fabrics and details.\u00a0<\/p>\n
