NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — In response to skyrocketing rates from Con Edison and other power companies, New York City is rolling out a program to provide some relief to customers.<\/p>\n
The City has already begun to contact thousands of New Yorkers about the Enhanced Energy Affordability Program. This free program could help eligible households save up to $33 a month on electric bills and up to $135 on gas bills.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Discover more local reporting on our homepage\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n To qualify, households must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n Have an active residential electric or natural gas account with a participating New York utility<\/p>\n Provide complete documentation of your entire household’s income for the last month<\/p>\n The Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice and the Public Engagement Unit will continue outreach and meet commuters where they are.<\/p>\n Teams will engage with New Yorkers and show them how to apply. The goal is to assist residents with low to moderate incomes, focusing on the most vulnerable communities.<\/p>\n
