Two bat-wielding brutes who slugged a man in Queens<\/a> during an attempted robbery early on Tuesday morning remain on the lam, police reported.\n<\/p>\n Law enforcement sources said the attack occurred at about 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 20 near the corner of Case Street and Elmhurst Avenue in Elmhurst.\n<\/p>\n That\u2019s where the victim, a 28-year-old man, was walking through the area when the two perpetrators approached him and attempted to steal his wallet by force.\n<\/p>\n The man, however, fought back, according to police, leading to a physical struggle. During the fracas, one of the suspects bashed the man\u2019s head with a baseball bat.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n The perpetrators then took off, without the man\u2019s wallet, in an unknown direction. No description of the suspects was immediately available.\n<\/p>\n Officers from the 110th Precinct<\/a> responded to the incident. EMS rushed the victim to nearby Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.\n<\/p>\n A man was brutally beaten with a baseball bat in Queens during an attempted robbery early Tuesday morning, police said.\n<\/p>\n The incident occurred as the 110th Precinct battles a 15.1% spike in felony assaults<\/a>, with 560 incidents year-to-date through Oct. 18, up from 490 at the same point last year.
